Student Support

Extensive support is available to all students. Upon arrival, all new students are assigned a student to help them settle in (the Old Hands, New Faces Welcoming Scheme). During the first week, students are invited to an Induction Session where they are introduced to College Officers, staff and student representatives, and a Buffet Supper at which they will be introduced to their College Advisor. The College Advisor is a senior academic, usually a Fellow of the College, and is available as a source of help and advice on academic matters and any other concerns that a student may have (the Advisor's field of study will usually be similar to that of the student).

In addition, students can contact the Senior Tutor and his staff at any time if they need held with academic, personal or financial problems. Two Student Welfare Officers are also available for informal and confidential support.

The Senior Tutor administers discretionary funding for short-term financial support to students experiencing unforeseeable difficulties, and a fund for fieldwork and conference-related travel to which students may apply once they are on course.
