Wolfson College is a large, international, and interdisciplinary academic community of graduate students, post-doctoral researchers, Fellows, Common Room members, and academic visitors working in a great variety of disciplines.

Interdisciplinary Research at Wolfson

Wolfson is able to provide and develop collaborative academic activities which differ in interesting ways from the research at Oxford conducted in departments and faculties. Academics researching and publishing in the same field, but at different stages of their careers, can come together for informal exchanges of knowledge and learn from each others’ research. Scholars working across a range of intellectual disciplines can make contacts and create intellectual links and connections.

The College can provide a base for a great variety of activities, from seminars, workshops, and conferences, to research presentations and social meetings over lunch, drinks, or dinner for particular groups.

As part of its vision for the future of postgraduate education, Wolfson is intensifying and expanding its academic activities into a group of interdisciplinary Research Clusters.

Each cluster draws on the outstanding scholarly strengths within the College and provides an inspiring space for innovative forms of academic collaboration and thought.

Some of these Research Clusters have attracted external funding, and all are supported by the College. Through this vision of interdisciplinary research at Oxford, we aim to create graduate scholarships and attract the best graduate students in these fields to Wolfson.

Research Cluster projects include international conferences, cutting-edge digital technologies, and collaborations with museums and research initiatives across the world.

Many of the research cluster events and activities are open to anyone interested in attending, and research outputs will be widely disseminated through podcasts and publications available online.
