Also known as Ruth Wrightson, I am an epidemiologist whose main areas of research are the genetic, hormonal and lifestyle determinants of cancer, particularly cancers of the breast and prostate. I lead a study of the effects of shift work and circadian rhythms on disease, funded by the Health and Safety Executive.
I am closely involved in the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition (EPIC), and am a member of the international Breast and Prostate Cancer Cohort Consortium.
I have published on findings from post-GWAS analyses including a study of gene environment interactions in relation to breast cancer risk in the Million Women Study. Recent papers have also examined the influence of phyto-oestrogens on cancer risk. I am also a member of the European Food Safety Authority’s Working Group on Isoflavones.
